Come on, everyone! Sing it with me...
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday dear Julia!
Happy 100th birthday to you!
How'd you all celebrate the legendary chef's birthday today? I watched a bit of the PBS special that they ran for her, celebrating her show "The French Chef." Isaiah even caught a few minutes of it in between milk comas and poopy diapers.
I also downloaded these bright and cheerful (not to mention FREE) art prints that Half Price Books gave away. Anyone know where I can get a blowtorch? I was going to work on making my own art prints with some of Julia's quotes, but alas, I ended up with a lot less free time on my hands today than I thought I'd be getting.
For dinner, Josh and I went to Applebee's. Unfortunately, our city is severely lacking in fine French cuisine, so we went to the next best thing and got bowls of French onion soup. Julia Child was a big fan of wine, but I wasn't about to drink the "house wine" there, so instead I celebrated with a white peach sangria - delicious, though it had a bit of a floral perfume-y aftertaste.

Oh... and I picked winners for the giveaway! That's right - winners with an "s." I decided to pick 2 because: 1. there were so many great entries, and 2. I got a pretty good deal on the DVDs. Drumroll please...
And the winners are...
Congratulations, ladies! Please email me at lashesandbeard{at}gmail{dot}com and let me know where you would like your Starbucks gift card and your copy of "Julie & Julia" sent to. I love going to the post office so you'll get it lickety-split!
Thanks again to everyone who entered the giveaway. I appreciate all the new followers on GFC, Twitter, and Facebook, and I look forward to getting to know you all better. Now that I crossed the 100 GFC followers mark, I'm thinking another giveaway may be fast-approaching, so stay tuned.
