I love loving my husband, respecting him, encouraging him, and telling him how proud I am of him and his wonderful heart. So the other day I thought to myself, why not write him a love letter?
With Valentine's Day behind us, I think it's important for women to know that men like to get love letters, too. It's not just something for men to give their women in a show of tenderness! Men respond well to being shown that they're valued, but also when they're told.
Since Josh commutes to Seattle for work, his car stays at the park and ride during the day. It took me all of 30 seconds to spot his car in the lot, and so I parked near it and got out a pen and paper... then poured my heart on it.
I thanked him for being a fantastic husband. For liking to snuggle with me. For being sexy. For making me laugh. For working so hard to provide for our family. For encouraging me. For lots of things...
Since it was raining out, I double-bagged the note in some zippered sandwich baggies. Not the most romantic thing in the world, but hey, it works! I tucked the little love note under the windshield wiper of his car (then said a silent prayer he wouldn't turn the wipers on before seeing the note tucked in there), took the obligatory photo for the blog, and drove away. I couldn't wait to see him later after he'd read the letter, and part of me contemplated hiding out in my car in the park and ride to watch him secretly as he read it - haha! But alas, I had dinner to make.
That night, Josh walked in the door to a home filled with the smells of some of his favorite food. He gave me a hug, a kiss, and thanked me. And you know what? It was one of the best thanks I've ever received in my life, because I could tell how much he really appreciated the gesture. So, ladies, get that pen and paper out (and Ziploc baggies if you live in the rainy PNW like me), and surprise your man with a love note. You'll be glad you did!

ReplyDeleteHi Meg, thanks for stopping by! I'll be posting a craft project in the next couple of days for a "jar of hearts" that I made Josh for Valentine's Day - come on back and take a look. It's another great way to show/tell your husband how you respect him. :-)
DeleteOh my goodness this was the sweetest story! I never do nice things like this for my husband - sure I save him the last chocolate {sometimes}. I am going to do something cute like this. I love that you put it in a Ziploc bag.
ReplyDeleteHi Emily! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I'm guilty of swiping the last chocolate, too! :-) Like I told Meg (above), I'll be doing another post soon about a jar of hearts that I made for Josh for Valentine's Day. It's a little time commitment, but the effects are long-lasting and lovely.
DeleteAwww how sweet!!! He's one lucky guy!
